This simple plum tomato sauce is a beautiful base for countless baby and toddler meals. Naturally bright and full of flavor, it comes together effortlessly in the Babycook and can be served with pasta, grains, vegetables, or proteins for an easy homemade meal.
Ingredients
- 1 cup seeded plum tomatoes, chopped
- 2–3 fresh basil leaves
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- Pinch of garlic powder or ½ clove garlic (optional)
- Pinch of salt (optional)
- 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for children 12 months+)
Instructions

Prep the tomatoes
Seed and roughly chop the plum tomatoes. -
Steam
Place the tomatoes in the steaming basket.
Fill the Babycook water reservoir to Level 3 and run one full steam cycle. -
Blend the sauce
Once cooked, transfer the tomatoes to the blending bowl. Add the basil, olive oil, and tomato paste. - Blend until you reach your desired consistency.

Optional finishing step
If desired, add the garlic, salt, and grated Parmesan cheese (for children 12 months and older) and blend again. - For a deeper flavor, you can also simmer the blended sauce on the stovetop for about 10 minutes to further cook and thicken the tomatoes.
